How is it performed?
An incision is made under the
bikini line, excess fat and skin are removed, and abdominal
muscles are tightened. In some patients the navel is
repositioned. The procedure will be performed under local
anaesthetic, and you will be required to stay in the hospital for
a few days to recover, the length of your stay depending on your
general state of health and the advice of the surgeon.
How long will it take for the physical
effects of the operation to disappear?
Most people return to their normal
activities within 2 to 4 weeks, but this depends on you. Your
surgeon may advise the wearing of a supporting girdle during this
time to maximise healing and ensure good contour. More vigorous
exercise can be undertaken after about 6 weeks. Scarring is
inevitable, but this will be easy to conceal as it is under the
bikini line.
