Breast Reduction
What is it?
|
Reduction Mammaplasty reduces
overly large or sagging breasts which may be causing
discomfort, giving them a better shape and size, thereby
enhancing posture, and helping to improve overall appearance
and self esteem.
|
How is it performed?
|
| There are currently several
techniques used to remove excess breast tissue, reshape the
breasts and reposition the nipples. With all of these
methods, incisions are made around the areolae and under the
breasts. Your plastic surgeon will take your physical
condition into account to determine which technique would be
the best for you. You will be required to stay in hospital
for 2 to 4 days. |
How long will it take for the physical effects of the
operation to disappear?
|
| Your surgeon will make every
effort to keep the incisions he makes as inconspicuous as
possible, and they will heal after the first few weeks of
surgery. The scars will gradually fade over the following 6
to 12 months. There may be an alteration in the sensation of
the nipple, but this will improve in time.
